The Open GLAMs & heritage project delved into the examination of social, technical, and legal infrastructures and frameworks of open GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) & Heritage of Pakistan. Here are the key outcomes:


Outcomes of Social Infrastructure and Framework

Progressive Web and Social Media Presence

– Established a progressive web presence for easy access

to details of heritage sites, institutions, and GLAMs at Explore Open   (xploreopen.org).

– Created social media presence of Open heritage of Pakistan on Facebook and Twitter

Empirical Findings

– Social media representation of GLAMs and heritage sites in Pakistan is lacking across platforms.

– Social media campaigns significantly promote cultural heritage.

– Positive associations between social media campaigns and television/online platforms/exhibitions initiatives

Outcomes of Technological Infrastructure and Framework

Digital Dashboard and Mapping

– Established a digital dashboard (Beta Version) at Explore Open   (xploreopen.org).

– Mapped heritage sites/GLAMs of Pakistan using padlet.com

– Presence of digital dashboard significantly positively associated with successful operation and growth/accessibility of GLAMs and heritage sites.

Empirical Findings

– Heritage sites and GLAMs lack significant digitized content.

– Technical infrastructure is crucial for the successful operation of open GLAMs.

– Supply chain network and inventory management in GLAMs need improvement.

Outcomes of Legal Infrastructure and Framework

Legal MoU

– Established a legal MoU between Creative Commons, Pakistan Chapter, and Ministry of Culture, Govt. of Sindh.

– Paved the way for new amendments via the signed MoU between Creative Commons, Pakistan Chapter, and Ministry of Culture, Govt. of Sindh.

Empirical Findings

– Legal frameworks exist to safeguard Pakistan’s diverse heritage culture.

– Ministry of Culture collaborates effectively with other government bodies.

– Positive association between legal frameworks safeguarding heritage culture and national collaborations by the Ministry of Culture
